AKA Aloe 'Black Gem'
×Alworthia ‘Black Gem’ is a striking, compact succulent prized for its thick, fleshy, pointed leaves and beautiful colour-changing foliage. The leaves form attractive star-shaped rosettes, starting green and gradually developing deep bronze, chocolate brown and almost blackish-red tones when grown in brighter light.
This unusual hybrid is an excellent choice for collectors who love succulents with darker foliage. It produces offsets readily around the base, gradually forming a dense, spreading clump of rosettes. Its compact growth habit makes it ideal for pots, succulent arrangements and decorative containers.
When mature, ×Alworthia ‘Black Gem’ typically reaches approximately 10–15 cm tall and 20–30 cm wide, with established clumps potentially spreading further over time.
This easy-care succulent prefers bright light, well-draining soil and occasional watering. Its foliage colour becomes more intense with increased sunlight, although harsh sun combined with dry conditions can damage the leaf tips.

Succulents need to travel with the least moisture as possible due to potential problems, such as rotting. This means they are taken out of their pots and their roots are allowed to dry out before sending. As a result, plants may arrive looking slightly different to photos. Some maybe a little dry looking or slightly wrinkled leaves for example, remember succulents are hardy and will bounce back with a little TLC. TLC instructions will be within your order.
