Echeveria 'Dongting' is not recommended as a house plant as it does not tolerate low light conditions. It is a slow growing succulent that is sensitive to extreme conditions such as storms, long periods of rain or extreme heat.
Echeveria ‘Dongting’ is a compact, rosette-forming succulent with ovate, slightly grooved leaves that close tightly toward the centre. Foliage appears blue-green to whitish under standard conditions, developing pink margins and red spotting when stressed. In optimal light, the plant may exhibit a near-translucent, jelly-like sheen. Mature rosettes typically reach 8–10 cm in diameter.
-
Position: Full sun to part shade. In southern climates, full sun enhances colouration; in northern regions, provide filtered light during peak heat.
-
Watering: Water sparingly. Allow potting mix to dry completely between applications. During active growth (spring–autumn), water every 10–14 days; reduce in winter.
-
Soil: Requires free-draining succulent or cactus mix. Avoid moisture-retentive substrates and overhead watering.
-
Climate Suitability: Performs best in frost-free environments. Protect from excessive humidity and prolonged wet conditions. Maintain good airflow in summer; avoid temperatures above 32°C and below 5°C in winter.
-
Maintenance: Remove spent or damaged leaves to prevent rot. Repot annually or when rootbound to refresh soil and encourage growth.
Display Picture plant IS NOT for sale, it is added to showcase the beauty or growth habit of the plant.
Plants for sale are shown in a 7cm pot. The images will show the same or similar plant to the one sent to you.
Succulent colours can change due to the time of year, environment, or growing conditions.
Please Note:
Plants are sent bare rooted. A snazzy way of saying it will arrive with minimal or no soil or pot.
Succulents need to travel with the least moisture as possible due to potential problems, such as rotting. This means they are taken out of their pots and their roots are allowed to dry out before sending. As a result, plants may arrive looking slightly different to photos. Some maybe a little dry looking or slightly wrinkled leaves for example, remember succulents are hardy and will bounce back with a little TLC. TLC instructions will be within your order.
Feel free to contact us if you have any concerns with your order.
