Cheiridopsis denticulata, often nicknamed “Carpet Weed” or “Lobster Claws,” is a low-growing succulent native to South Africa’s arid regions. It forms dense mats of fleshy, triangular leaves with tiny tooth-like edges—hence the name denticulata. The foliage ranges from silvery-blue to pale green and develops a waxy coating that helps retain moisture. In late winter to early spring, it produces daisy-like flowers in soft yellow or cream, adding a delicate contrast to its rugged form.

  • Growth Habit: Ground-hugging clumps; spreads horizontally

  • Size: Up to 25 cm tall and 40 cm wide

  • Colour: Silvery-blue to pale green leaves; yellow or cream flowers

  • Flowering: Late winter to early spring; solitary blooms on short stalks

  • Watering: Light watering during active growth (autumn–spring); minimal in summer dormancy

  • Soil: Gritty, well-draining mix—ideal with added sand or perlite

  • Propagation: Seeds or division of clumps; allow offsets to root before transplanting

  • Pests: Rarely affected; monitor for mealybugs or aphids

Plants for sale are shown in a 7cm pot. The images will show the same or similar plant to the one sent to you.

Succulent colours can change due to the time of year, environment, or growing conditions.

Please Note:

Plants are sent bare rooted. A snazzy way of saying it will arrive with minimal or no soil or pot.

Succulents need to travel with the least moisture as possible due to potential problems, such as rotting. This means they are taken out of their pots and their roots are allowed to dry out before sending. As a result, plants may arrive looking slightly different to photos. Some maybe a little dry looking or slightly wrinkled leaves for example, remember succulents are hardy and will bounce back with a little TLC. TLC instructions will be within your order.

Feel free to contact us if you have any concerns with your order.
