Graptopetalum paraguayense ssp. bernalense variegata is a pretty succulent with a delicate yet resilient nature. It's a variegated form of the Ghost Plant, known for its mesmerizing colour changes depending on sunlight exposure and stress levels.
Its fleshy leaves grow in compact rosettes and display a mix of soft green with creamy yellow or white streaks, creating a marbled effect. When the plant is exposed to bright light or experiences a slight drought, the variegation becomes more pronounced, often developing pink, peach, or lavender hues. This colour transformation makes it a favourite among succulent enthusiasts.
The plant generally stays low-growing, reaching around 20 cm in height, with mature rosettes spreading up to 7 cm in diameter. It thrives in well-draining soil, such as a mix of sand, pumice, or gritty substrate, which prevents root rot. While it enjoys ample sunlight, it benefits from light shade in extremely hot climates, making it adaptable to various outdoor conditions.
One of the best things about this plant is its ease of propagation. It naturally spreads by dropping leaves or through its stems, which take root when they touch soil. This characteristic makes it an excellent ground cover or a cascading feature in hanging baskets.
It is relatively low-maintenance. It requires occasional watering, especially during warmer months, but should be left dry in winter. Too much water can cause its delicate leaves to become mushy, so moderation is key.
Display Picture plant IS NOT for sale, it is added to showcase the beauty or growth habit of the plant.
Plants for sale are shown in a 7cm pot. The images will show the same or similar plant to the one sent to you.
Succulent colours can change due to the time of year, environment, or growing conditions.
Please Note:
Plants are sent bare rooted. A snazzy way of saying it will arrive with minimal or no soil or pot.
Succulents need to travel with the least moisture as possible due to potential problems, such as rotting. This means they are taken out of their pots and their roots are allowed to dry out before sending. As a result, plants may arrive looking slightly different to photos. Some maybe a little dry looking or slightly wrinkled leaves for example, remember succulents are hardy and will bounce back with a little TLC. TLC instructions will be within your order.
Feel free to contact us if you have any concerns with your order.
