Echeveria agavoides 'Ebony' is a striking and highly sought-after variety of Echeveria agavoides, known for its unique and bold appearance. This cultivar is a popular choice among succulent collectors due to its deep, dark-colored leaves and compact growth habit.
Echeveria agavoides 'Ebony' forms a rosette shape, similar to other Echeveria varieties. The rosette is tight and compact, with the leaves arranged in a circular, symmetrical pattern that radiates from the center.
The 'Ebony' variety has leaves that are thick, succulent, and come to a point, creating a triangular form. The defining characteristic of Echeveria agavoides 'Ebony' is the intense pigmentation of its foliage. The leaves exhibit a dark, nearly purple-black color, which becomes most vivid when exposed to full sunlight or when the plant experiences stress, like during drought or in cooler climates.
Echeveria agavoides 'Ebony' thrives in bright, direct sunlight, which enhances its dark, rich color. However, it should be gradually acclimated to full sun, as sudden exposure can lead to sunburn.
In spring or early summer, Echeveria agavoides 'Ebony' produces small, tubular flowers on a tall, slender flower stalk. The flowers are typically a soft orange or pink,
Similar to other Echeverias, 'Ebony' can be propagated through the removal of offsets, which are the smaller rosettes that form around the plant's base, or through leaf cuttings. However, for agavoides, using offsets is the preferred method since they tend to resist leaf removal.
Plants for sale are shown in a 10cm pot, unless stated different. The images will show the same or similar plant to the one sent to you. Succulent colours can change due to the time of year, environment, or growing conditions.
Where possible a display picture will be added to showcase the beauty or growth habit of the plant.
Please Note:
Plants are sent bare rooted. A snazzy way of saying it will arrive with minimal or no soil or pot.
Our plants are grown outside in all-weather conditions (no hot houses) so some plants may have markings.
Succulents need to travel with the least moisture as possible due to potential problems, such as rotting. This means they are taken out of their pots and their roots are allowed to dry out before sending. As a result, plants may arrive looking slightly different to photos. Some maybe a little dry looking or slightly wrinkled leaves for example, remember succulents are hardy and will bounce back with a little TLC. TLC instructions will be within your order.
