Also known as 'Chalk Rose'

Dudleya ‘Candida’ is a slow-growing, rosette-forming succulent with narrow, tapering leaves coated in a dense, chalky white epicuticular wax. The foliage is highly reflective and maintains a sculptural, star-like form. Native to Baja California, this species prefers dry, well-ventilated conditions and is best suited to container culture or protected rockeries. Mature rosettes typically reach 10–15 cm in diameter. Handle with care to preserve natural farina.

  • Position: Full sun to part shade. In southern climates; in northern regions, provide protection from intense afternoon exposure.

  • Watering: Water infrequently. Allow potting mix to dry completely between applications. During active growth (late autumn to early spring), water every 14–21 days; reduce or cease watering in summer dormancy.

  • Soil: Requires sharply draining mineral-based mix. Avoid organic-heavy or moisture-retentive substrates.

  • Climate Suitability: Best grown in frost-free, low-humidity environments. Protect from summer rainfall and prolonged wet conditions. Ideal for coastal or arid regions with good airflow.

  • Maintenance: Avoid overhead watering to preserve leaf coating. Remove spent leaves gently. Repot every 1–2 years to refresh substrate and inspect root health.

Plants for sale are shown in a 7cm pot, unless stated different. The images (not display photos) will show the same or similar plant to the one sent to you.

Succulent colours can change due to the time of year, environment, or growing conditions. The size and colour of plants sent can vary to those in the photos.

Where possible a display picture will be added to showcase the beauty or growth habit of the plant.

Photos marked ‘Display’ are not those sent when ordered.

Please Note:

Plants are sent bare rooted. A snazzy way of saying it will arrive with minimal or no soil or pot.

Our plants are grown outside in all-weather conditions (no hot houses) so some plants may have markings.

Succulents need to travel with the least moisture as possible due to potential problems, such as rotting. This means they are taken out of their pots and their roots are allowed to dry out before sending. As a result, plants may arrive looking slightly different to photos. Some maybe a little dry looking or slightly wrinkled leaves for example, remember succulents are hardy and will bounce back with a little TLC. TLC instructions will be within your order.
